Not feeling especially patriotic this year, but still wanting to celebrate the long weekend with a hearty summer meal? The Holler Hospitality group has you covered: They're offering a variety of specials and will donate 50% of all sales from their restaurants on July 4 to Planned Parenthood and Everytown for Gun Safety. Bullard will serve a smoked and grilled rack of ribs (glazed in a fermented black bean and tamarind sauce and served with grilled corn and poblano butter), while Holler will serve a discounted "Full Meal Deal" (a whole fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cornbread, hot sauce, pickles, and a pint of Holler Treats ice cream, all for $45) for takeout, a quarter rack of barbecue pork ribs (with house barbecue sauce, grilled corn on the cob, chipotle mayo, and cabbage apple slaw) for takeout or dine-in, and $5 margaritas and all-day happy hour for dine-in. And for dessert, head to Holler Treats, which is selling ice cream, pie, cake, cookies, "endless frozen treats," and more. Good Coffee will not have any specials for the holiday, but the location inside Woodlark Hotel will also be open for the weekend and donating 50% of its proceeds.

Mercury contributor Jenni Moore has some good news and some bad: "While the fest is no longer free or offering admission for cans of food like in the good ol’ days, it’s cool to see the festival stepping up their lineup by adding eclectic newer acts alongside stalwart veterans. Performers include Grammy-winning artist Taj Mahal, gothic blues singer Adia Victoria, New Orleans act Galactic (featuring Anjelika Jelly Joseph, formerly of Tank and the Bangas), R&B musician Son Little, powerhouse singing (and husband-and-wife) duo The War and Treaty, Nigerian musician Femi Kuti, The Phantom Blues Band, and many more." See the full lineup here. The festival will close out with a bang on the Fourth of July with a grand fireworks display set against the Willamette River.
