Church Bar Add to a List
This bar serving New American, vegan, and gluten-free food and craft cocktails on NE Sandy Blvd, which closed in December last year, plans to reopen on April 14, according to a press release.

Juliett Add to a List
This elegant midcentury bar dedicated to women in aviation opened inside the Portland International Airport last Saturday, with portraits of historic figures like Bessie Coleman, Berta Moraleda, Micky Axton, and Hazel Ying Lee. The bar serves six beers made in collaboration with Fracture Brewing Add to a List in tribute to the notable women it highlights, plus vintage cocktails like the Hanky Panky and (of course) the Aviation.

Moberi Add to a List
The açai bowl spot Moberi, which operates locations in Slabtown, Mississippi, and Hawthorne, plans to open a location inside Beaverton’s Cedar Hills Crossing shopping center on April 1. The business will give out free medium-sized açai bowls from 12-4 pm that day to celebrate the opening.

Rukdiew Cafe Add to a List
The popular Thai spot Kala Noodle and Grill Add to a List , known for its khao soi, recently closed, but this restaurant has opened in its place, with the same chef and an expanded menu that includes new dishes like boat noodles, trout fried rice, and "mango paradise" (a mango stir-fry with bell pepper, cashews, basil, onion, and chili jam sauce).

Din Tai Fung Add to a List
Portland can look forward to some exciting new dumpling destinations: Washington's rapidly expanding chain Dough Zone Add to a List recently revealed plans Add to a List to launch a Rose City outpost, and now, Din Tai Fung is following suit, announcing a new location set to open in the Pioneer Place mall in 2023.  The wildly popular Taiwanese chain, known for their delicate soup dumplings with 18 pleats apiece, opened its first Oregon location inside Washington Square Mall in 2018.

Precious Pizza Add to a List
Owner Alejandro Preciado announced on Instagram this week that his grandma-style pan pizza cart, which opened Add to a List in the Barley Pod last August, is closing later this month, writing, "Initially this was supposed to be a 3 month trial period for my self to see if y’all would like my pies - 8 months later here we are - we rlly love all our regs and all the homies at this pod - this next week will be our last here at the Barley pod - we will be shifting to doing markets and pop-ups for the time being till we figure out what our next move is."

Man who killed Choi's Kimchi founder Matt Choi sentenced to life in prison
The Pacific Northwest food scene mourned in October 2020 after Matt Choi, the co-owner of the award-winning kimchi brand Choi's Kimchi, was fatally stabbed in his apartment Add to a List in Southeast Portland. On Friday, Allen Alonzo Coe, the man who killed him, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

One-Year Anniversary Hootenanny Add to a List
Grasslands Barbecue will celebrate its one-year anniversary in the Gorge with a menu that includes brisket, jerk-rubbed and smoked turkey legs, pork belly burnt ends, hatch chile cheddar and cheesy taco sausages, mac and cheese with garlic breadcrumbs, raspberry lemonade slushies, and more. The local businesses Holy Trinity Barbecue and Burn Unit Barbecue will join the fun, Ferment Brewing will provide the beer, and KEXP DJ Greg Vandy will spin tunes. A large turnout is expected, so show up early.

The flavor is available today through Sunday only at Ice Queen and both Smith Teamaker locations.

This week, the plant-based restaurant inspired by the flavors of Cuba and Miami introduced a new "spicy cowboy" special, made with house grilled seitan steak, saffron yellow rice, black beans, pickled onions, thinly sliced jalapeños, mixed grape tomatoes, local organic microgreens, and house-made tortilla chips.

Von Ebert Brewing
The local brewery recently collaborated with former Portland Trail Blazer Brian Grant on a new beer called Rasta Monsta Tropical Pils, named in tribute to Grant's nickname. The beer will be released during a game at the Moda Center on March 30, and all proceeds will be donated to the Brian Grant Foundation, a nonprofit started by Grant in 2010 to help those living with Parkinson's disease after his own diagnosis in 2008 at the age of 36.
