It may be Friday the 13th, but the Portland food scene is brimming with blessings, including the return of the celebrated West African spot Akadi, a new wings restaurant from the team behind Nacheaux, and a new location of the popular cart Trap Kitchen inside Roseland Theater. Akadi Add to a List  and House of Flavor Add to a List
Rejoice: Portland's acclaimed West African restaurant Akadi Add to a List , which has been on hiatus for over a year, reopened with an expanded menu in a new, bigger space at 1001 SE Division St. on May 8. Better yet, chef and owner Fatou Ouattara also recently launched a new grocery store called House of Flavor, with locally grown African fruits and vegetables, house spice blends, house-made sauces, and other ingredients, plus African beer and wine. The shop plays its own original videos educating visitors on how to use the ingredients.

Beirut Bites Add to a List
The owners of Nicholas Restaurant, a local Lebanese and Mediterranean institution, opened this sibling restaurant specializing in Lebanese-style street food in early May. Customers can choose from options such as classic shawarma, cauliflower shawarma, falafel, lamb gyros, customizable bowls, Lebanese-style pizzas, and more.

Brewfare Add to a List
The Eugene-based brewery Oakshire Brewing Add to a List recently debuted this fast-casual pizzeria inside its Portland beer hall, according to a press release. Besides square pan pizzas, the spot also serves salads, cheesy garlic breadsticks, and oven-baked desserts.

Charlie's Breakfast Cart Add to a List
This new vegan breakfast cart opened inside the Rose City Food Park Add to a List in late April, slinging dishes like breakfast sandwiches made with Just Egg patties, breakfast burritos stuffed with tofu scrambles, and a plant-based take on Taco Bell's famed Crunchwrap Supreme.

Fast Feathers Add to a List
The team behind the Mexican-Southern favorite Nacheaux Add to a List , which is temporarily closed as it prepares to open a new location, launched a new spinoff called Fast Feathers on May 4, with a selection of wings with flavorful house-made sauces, plus craveable side dishes like ranch-dusted tots, cheddar-dusted "Doriteaux" fries, and spicy pickles breaded in hot Cheetos with Cajun spices.

Looking for an outdoor drinking destination for when the weather finally starts to feel more spring-like? The hip hostel Lolo Pass opened its rooftop bar on May 4 and is serving a Spanish-inspired menu of bites like boquerones and garlicky shrimp.

Rockwood Market Hall Add to a List
This Gresham community space featuring a variety of restaurants, grocers, and other vendors held its grand opening from May 6-7. Food options at the hall include Momma G's Soup, Flavours of India, Taste of Casablanca, Alleamin Products, DB Dessert Company, Cox Hanal PDX, Kuya's Islander Cuisine, Hank's Place Southern Cuisine, and La Michoacana Dulce.

Tito's Taquitos Add to a List
Another triumphant return from a popular cart: This taco cart, which Portland Monthly dubbed a "must-try" last July, reopened in a new location inside a 76 gas station parking lot on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy yesterday. The spot is beloved for its tacos and taquitos made with handmade corn tortillas, plus sweets like Mexican chocolate brownies and berry tres leches cake.

Trap Kitchen PDX
The Portland branch of the wildly popular Oakland-based restaurant and catering company Trap Kitchen, which counts stars like SZA and Kendrick Lamar among its fans, hosts the grand opening Add to a List of its new restaurant inside the Roseland Theater Add to a List from 5-7 pm today, prior to a show by Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T. Add to a List at the venue.

Pink Rabbit Add to a List owner and manager Collin Nicholas plans to open this throwback steakhouse-inspired bar with rare whiskeys, a raw bar, and retro cocktails in the former Vault Cocktail Lounge Add to a List space in mid-June.

Kann Add to a List and Bar Sousòl Add to a List
At last, Top Chef star Gregory Gourdet is preparing to open his highly anticipated wood-fired Haitian restaurant Kann in mid-July. Not only that, but he also revealed this week that he's planning to follow it up with a downstairs pan-Caribbean bar called Sousòl (Haitian Creole for "basement") two weeks later. Gourdet has been vocal about his sobriety, and the bar will feature plentiful zero-proof options in addition to beer, wine, and cocktails.

Later this month, this Italian-Pacific Northwest spot from FINO Add to a List owner Jason Riley will bring house-made pasta, pizza, pastries, and more to the former Radar Add to a List space, according to Bridgetown Bites.

Jojo owner raises money for abortion rights
In response to this week's news that the Supreme Court is planning to overturn Roe vs. Wade, Justin Hintze, owner of the wildly popular fried chicken joint and social media sensation Jojo, made an Instagram post offering to match up to $1000 in donations for the Northwest branch of the National Network of Abortion Funds and inviting other businesses to join him. Other businesses, like Bark City Barbecue, Demarco’s Sandwiches, Magna Kusina, Jen's Pastries, and GrindWitTryz soon followed suit. According to an Instagram post from Jojo, the donors and local businesses had collectively raised a whopping $44,138 as of May 8.
