Afuri Ramen + Dumpling Add to a List
This much-buzzed-about Tokyo ramen chain with locations in Beaverton Add to a List Buckman Add to a List , and Old Town-Chinatown Add to a List opened an outpost in Slabtown on Wednesday. The new location serves the chain's specialty, a bright, delicate yuzu shio ramen, in addition to hazelnut vegan and pork-style tantanmen, tsukemen, small plates, gohan, winged gyoza, and more, and offers customers a clear view of the ramen-making process.

NOLA Doughnuts Add to a List
The New Orleans-inspired bakery NOLA Doughnuts, known for its brioche doughnuts, beignets, and "la'ssants" (a laminated doughnut-croissant hybrid), launches a Beaverton location this Sunday. The new shop also offers some pretty delightful-sounding brunch options, such as bread pudding French toast and bananas Foster waffles.

Shaku Bar Add to a List
This laidback bar opened on NE Sandy Blvd on May 5, serving dishes like tempura kimchi, burgers, barbacoa tacos, and fried eggplant sandos alongside drinks like the "Pomaroni" (a Negroni with house-made grenadine) and the "Blood Moon Rising" (a twist on the classic Manhattan made with Rittenhouse Rye, port, red wine, and a cherry garnish).

Steeplejack Brewing Pizza & Beer Add to a List
After opening its first location inside a restored historic church in Northeast Portland Add to a List last summer, Steeplejack Brewing has expanded with a second location in the former IBU Public House Add to a List space on Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. Open as of this past Monday, the new pub features pizza with toppings like fennel sausage and wild mushrooms and a beer selection with two beer engines. The brewery is also set to open another west side location soon, this time in Hillsboro.

Tartuca Add to a List
According to a press release, this Italian-Pacific Northwest spot from FINO Add to a List owner Jason Riley, former Park Kitchen chef Jamie Wilcox, and former Arden Add to a List general manager Grant Ferguson will bring house-made pasta, New York and Neapolitan-style pizza, pastries, wine, and more to the former Radar Add to a List space, with an opening planned for next Wednesday, May 25.

Suzette Add to a List
This French crêperie and dessert cafe closed on late April to focus on its mobile catering operation. Owner Jehnee Rains wrote in an Instagram post, "We have been so honored to provide a little space to gather for your large and small events, watching the kids grow taller and taller! Relaxation and trips to visit loved ones are on the horizon, as well as catering crêpe events!"

Workers at four local Starbucks locations vote to unionize
Workers at four Portland-area Starbucks stores voted overwhelmingly to unionize on May 17. The locations will be the first in the Portland metropolitan area to join the Starbucks Workers United union.

Two Portland chefs will appear on national TV

Mark your calendar to catch two Portland chefs on national TV: First, Nacheaux Add to a List co-owner Anthony Brown will compete on the Food Network's Guy's Grocery Games, hosted by the ever-flamboyant Guy Fieri. Portland's iconic Widmer Brothers Brewing was awarded a silver medal for its popular Hefeweizen in the 2022 World Beer Cup's American Wheat Beer category this month.

The imbiber’s version of a candy store, Edgefield is home to a winery, distillery, and brewery. Their fourth annual Brewfest will showcase over 50 beers and ciders, so pick your poison and bring your own blanket or chair to enjoy it out on the lawn. The High Deductibles and the Neil Young/Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band Fortunate Gold will provide live music.

Nico's Ice Cream One-Year Anniversary Party Add to a List
The New Zealand-style ice cream shop Nico's Ice Cream, which makes its delicious flavors by blending together real fruit and vanilla soft-serve, will celebrate the anniversary of its first sale with a party that includes empanadas from Tita's Kitchen, a special anniversary half-pint "Brookie" flavor (brownie, cookie, and vanilla) in collaboration with JinJu Patisserie, discounted merch, and free ice cream for the first 50 guests.

Only 100 sandwiches will be available, and all proceeds will go towards the nonprofit Ben's Friends, which helps those struggling with substance abuse or addiction.
