Blue Star Donuts Like Add to a List
After a trying two years in which it was forced to close four of its locations and file for bankruptcy due to the impact of COVID-19, Blue Star Donuts is back on its feet: The local chain is hosting the grand opening of its new store in Lake Oswego today, according to a press release. Beginning at 2 pm, each customer at the grand opening will receive a free donut of their choice (one per person) until the shop is sold out (which they estimate will be around 6 pm).

The local fast-food joint with locations in Milwaukie and Oregon City opened a new outpost in Tigard on May 19. The business announced on Wednesday, May 25, that it had closed temporarily to re-train some new employees and would be back open in two weeks.

Next Level Burger West Burnside Like Add to a List
This plant-based burger chain opened a location on West Burnside at the beginning of the month, with a menu of vegan offerings like dairy-free milkshakes, Beyond burgers and hot dogs, Chik'n nuggets, crinkle-cut fries, tater tots, and salads. The Stranger's Sean Nelson previously raved about the chain's Seattle location, writing, "Next Level makes it easy to begin the process of eliminating the principle that eating = eating meat from your mouth's muscle memory. It really works. And their patties are far tastier than standard-issue veggie burger substitutes. Best of all, though, are the shakes, which can be made with either soy or coconut-based soft serve in 12 flavors and are totally convincing...Also excellent: the Sausage Bacon burger (that 'sausage' patty is fantastic), the Signature (an umami mushroom and quinoa patty, with sliced avocado, and roasted garlic thyme mayo), and the heroically sloppy Chili Chz Dog."

Ruse Brewing Crust Collective Like Add to a List
The Portland area has been blessed with some exciting new pizza and beer destinations this spring. Steeplejack Brewing Like Add to a List launched Steeplejack Brewing Pizza & Beer Like Add to a List in Hillsdale last week, and the popular local brewery Ruse Brewing Like Add to a List also recently opened this family-friendly taproom with Detroit-style pizza on the Vancouver waterfront. Pies range from the "North Shore" (shaved sweetheart ham, bacon lardon, pineapple, jalapeno jelly, brick cheddar, and red sauce) to the "Turnpike" (fennel sausage, rosemary ricotta, pickled pepper, mozzarella, and red sauce).

Somebody Feed Phil releases Portland episode
In August, Phil Rosenthal, the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond and the host of the popular Netflix travel documentary series Somebody Feed Phil, paid a visit to Portland Like Add to a List . The resulting episode was released on Netflix as part of the show's fifth season this Wednesday. In it, Rosenthal hangs out with Top Chef: Portland contestant Shota Nakajima, hits up DesiPDX, Fried Egg I’m in Love, Matt’s BBQ, Kachka, Han Oak Like Add to a List , Jacobsen Salt Co. Like Add to a List , and Ruthie's Like Add to a List , and chats with Nong Poonsukwattana of Nong's Khao Man Gai at last year's Feast Portland festival. Gregory Gourdet will compete in Iron Chef reboot
In other TV-related news, Portland's own Top Chef star Gregory Gourdet is set to appear on the upcoming Netflix series Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend, which comes out on June 15. The show is hosted by food personality Alton Brown and former Top Chef contestant Kristen Kish and will feature Iron Chefs Curtis Stone, Dominique Crenn, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai, and Gabriela Cámara. Gourdet is also preparing to open Like Add to a List his highly anticipated wood-fired Haitian restaurant Kann Like Add to a List and a downstairs pan-Caribbean bar called Bar Sousòl Like Add to a List in mid-July. If you'd like to catch a glimpse of Gourdet and preview the type of food he'll be cooking at Kann, he'll be appearing as a guest chef at Chef Kwame Onwuachi's Cookbook Release and Signing Party Like Add to a List on Monday.

Oregon Brewers Festival returns
The Oregon Brewers Festival, Like Add to a List otherwise known as the state's biggest beer festival, is poised to make a triumphant comeback this summer after being on hiatus for the last two years due to COVID-19. The event is scheduled for July 28-30 and will host 40 Oregon breweries, with 80% of the featured beers being either exclusive to the festival or brand-new releases.

HOLI Spring Festival Like Add to a List
Topaz Farm is honoring the season of rebirth on their land while celebrating the South Asian festival of Holi, which marks the arrival of spring. A vibrant dance party will be soundtracked by DJ Anjali & The Incredible Kid, during which festival-goers will pelt each other with brightly colored organic, plant-based powders imported from India. Plus, dig into food from Bhuna, Big Elephant Kitchen, Chaat Wallah, DesiPDX, and Kulfi. A percentage of proceeds from the event will benefit farmers in India.
