Thank God It's Queer (TGIQ) sizzles this summer with Pedro Almodóvar's BAD EDUCATION (LA MALA EDUCACIÓN, 2004).
In 1980 Madrid, director Ignacio Rodriguez (Francisco Boira) seeks inspiration for his next feature when he meets a beautiful actor claiming to be his long-lost childhood love, Ángel Andrade (Gael García Bernal). Ángel arrives with a script based on their youth at a Catholic boarding school in the '60s, including a fictional modern-day storyline about a transgender drag queen named Zahara and her plan to exact revenge on the priest that came between them. But as Ignacio commences more than just filming with Ángel, the lines between reality and fiction—and love and murder—begin to blur until the truth emerges.
Featuring Bernal in a dual role as the equally stunning Ángel and Zahara, and co-starring Almodóvar regular Javier Cámara as Zahara's incomparable sidekick Paquito, BAD EDUCATION returned Almodóvar to his dark phase with this gorgeous, tragic, and brilliant Hitchcockian erotic thriller.
